The
two performers will be celebrating forty years as professional
entertainers in the summer of 2004.
Bill
Oxford, first brought his band, the "Spyders" to the San
Francisco Bay Area all the way from Harrison, Arkansas, early in
1964. Vance joined the band as their first Bay Area drummer,
and later; lead singer and front man. The "Spyders"
were at first a top 40 cover band during the "British
Invasion", and later became a pure "Soul" band,
gaining some recognition as a "Tower
of Power" influence.

Bill
and Vance with Bill Medley of the "Righteous Brothers"; 1965
Bill
and Vance left the "Spyders" late in 1965, and the band
later became MTA recording artists, and enjoyed great success as a
touring band until late in 1968.

Since
1965, Bill and Vance have been in many groups together, off and on,
including: "Tony
Vance and the RB Project"; "Tony Vance and the
Progress Hornsby Four"; "The Two-Pound Matchbox"; and "Hotspice".

In
1998, Bill Oxford set out on his own with his "Classic
Review" as a single act.

Late
in 2002, Vance Johnson joined his uncle once again in the
"Classic Review".

Both
men also continue to perform as singles, and occasionally with other
projects, such as: "Soul
Proprietor"; "Scratch"; The
"Tommy and Vance Show"; "T'nT"; and
"Willy and the Weiners".
