YHSHVH

"There is no other name under heaven that has been given among men by which we must be saved."  (Acts 4:12)

Aleph Beth

Here is the most primitive form of the ancient Hebrew name YAHSHVAH.  Modern forms of the Name include: "Joshua" and "Yeshua".

Although this formal spelling does not appear in the Bible (except in the codes!), it is alluded to by at least nine variants, including "Joshua" (four forms); "Jesse"; "Josiah"; "Isaiah"; "Hosea"; "Oshea"; Ish; Ishah; etc.  This is the actual Name of the One called "Jesus".

"Jesus" is the original transliteration used by John Wycliffe in the first English translation of the bible (and nearly all subsequent translations, by tradition) in 1380 A.D.  This was itself an English transliteration of a Latin transliteration of a Greek transliteration of the High Holy Hebrew Name given above.

Our Savior's Name is closely related to the Tetragrammaton: YHVH, the Old Testament personal Name of God.  This Name has been variously tranliterated "Jehovah" or "Yahweh", or even "Yahu" or "Yehah"!  The Tetragrammaton is a compound word, a special form (the first-person deific tense) of two related verbs: "hayah" (to be), and "havah" (to become). YHVH has the rough meaning: "The Eternal" or: "The ever existent One" (The "I AM").  It is the equivalent of God identifying Himself with the personal pronoun: "ME"!  This is why some sects refuse to utter the Name aloud, or even transcribe it in whole.  It is simply too Holy!

Christ's personal Name YAHSHVAH, contains the Tetragrammaton, with the addition of the central letter "Shin", which alludes to a third verb: "Yasha"  (to save) and gives the meaning: "YHVH saves".  In Kabbalah, the "Shin" denotes the power of the Holy Spirit; the breath of life; and the fire of Creation/Destruction.  This Name we are encouraged to utter, even to shout out in praise as the only Name by which we are saved!

YHSHVH is the Creator!  He is the "Logos" by which "all things came into being." (Jn. 1:3).  He is the "Stone of stumbling and a Rock of offence" (Is. 8:13; 1 Pet. 2:7-8).  He is the "Alpha and the Omega" (Is. 44:6; Rev. 22:13-16)  This "Rock" (2 Sam. 22:2-3; 1 Cor. 10:4; Ps. 18:1-2) is the "I AM" (Ex. 3:4-5;13-15; Jn. 8:56-58). Just as "Ish" (another primitive form of the Name) became "Adam"; "Abram" became "Abraham"; "Sarai" became "Sarah"; "Jacob" became "Israel"; "Simon" became "Peter"; and "Saul" of Tarsus became "Paul", the Apostle to the gentiles; so YHVH has become YHSHVH the appointed Messiah!
